Bali Freedivers was founded in 2023 in Amed, East Bali, by business partners and freediving buddies Jan and Freda. This collaboration has grown from a collective project, Fish on Stilts, which has been actively developed by both since 2019. With eight years of experience as a freediving instructor and freediving expeditions manager, Jan takes care of the entire teaching process at the school as the main instructor, while Freda serves as the manager and marketing lead. Recently, we welcomed a new member to our team, Mita. Mita is responsible for customer service, communication, and housekeeping.

Freediving is my life. I remember diving together with my grandfather in the Black Sea as early as the age of five, where we were collecting some shells and mussels. Growing up surrounded by water, my main leisure activities as a kid were swimming and freediving—nothing else excited me as much as being in the water.
After moving to Indonesia in 2013, I started my lifelong exploration of the tropical waters of the entire archipelago. Since 2016, I’ve been a freediving instructor, gladly sharing my passion for apnea diving, the beauty of underwater landscapes in Indonesia, and self-exploration through freediving.
I believe that freediving is a psychosomatic practice that helps us harmonize our mind and body, unfold hidden layers of our own soul, explore the unknown world of the ocean, simply have fun, and live a healthy and bright life by sharing it with like-minded, supportive members of the freediving community.
Whatever you do during the freediving course should be fun and exciting for you; that is the key to your progress. My task as an instructor is to create a safe and enjoyable environment for you to explore the ocean and yourself, gain new skills and knowledge, and simply have fun.
